When our friends at Future Music magazine compiled a list of the 40 greatest synth sounds of all time in , it was nothing if not controversial. Inevitably, some iconic tones failed to make the cut, but few would deny that the majority of the sounds that were included have attained classic folk.zulkikreegavinrarathorgagra.infoinfo: Future Music.

The Tempest is a full-blown synthesizer, so each drum sound can be anything from a traditional percussive sound (like a clap) to a soft analog synth pad. With 32 sounds available at a time (accessible through the 16 pads in two banks), the only limit is its six voices of polyphony.

Which synths did you choose to get rid of, and why? We're coming full circle on things people do with their gear, so I figure may as well see what people had, how long they had it, and why they parted with it.

The tempest fits my budget, but I realize in that price range there might be combinations of synths I wouldn't think of. So the questions: Is is easy and immediate to plug a MIDI keyboard into the tempest and play it like a standard synthesizer (including assigning knobs to do things like filter sweeps etc).
